Meet Regina McConnell
Regina was born and raised in Muncie, IN. The first of her family to graduate college, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Indiana University, and her Juris Doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, IN.
During Law School, she was a published member of the Indiana & International Comparative Law Review. She also interned for the Indiana Department of Public Access Counselor (the Freedom of Information Office of the Indiana State Government), and for CMG Worldwide, an Intellectual Property marketing firm representing celebrity individuals such as Marilyn Monroe and James Dean. She recently co-authored a book called "The Soul of Success: Vol II" with Jack Canfield (author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul") which will be published in late 2015. She became a lawyer to help protect people (especially children), and has spent countless hours volunteering to make a difference in the lives of kids. Her efforts include: LEGAL AID CENTER OF SOUTHERN NEVADA CAP (Children's Attorney Project) Regina provides counsel, advice, and representation to abused and neglected children who are in foster care placement, institutions, or are wards of the State. Her representation assures that these children will have a voice in the court process and play an active role in their own future. REACH FOR YOUTH (A Teen Court Pre-Trial Diversion Program) This program is designed to reduce recidivism in first-time juvenile offenders by giving them a second chance to repair the harm they caused while avoiding criminal court prosecution. Regina helped teenagers prepare their case for "trial" in front of this alternative court. PROTECTIVE ORDER PRO-BONO PROJECT This project provides free legal assistance to victims of abuse and domestic violence. It helps victims navigate the civil court system, obtain protective orders from their abusers, and educate them on various ways to stay safe. FUSE LEADER Regina Serves as a mentor and leader to her team of Junior High students in the youth program of Central Christian Church. The program helps kids build character, become responsible members of their community, bond socially with other like-minded kids, and obtain spiritual growth. STRIVE (Students Turning Responsibility Into Valuable Experience) STRIVE is a program in which Junior and Senior High School students of Central Christian Church volunteer over 3,200 hours of community service in a single day. This year, Regina led a team of students at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission where they organized donated food, cleaned the facility, and sorted money donated to the organization from fountains around the Las Vegas Valley. RCS MENTORING (Study Buddy Program) A program where Regina met once per week with an at-risk elementary aged student to help increase that child's academic performance, self-esteem, and emotional development by using the time to encourage good attendance in school, promote literacy, build character, strengthen their personal confidence, and enhance their joy of learning. Professionally, Regina is admitted to practice law in the State of Nevada as well as the United States District Court of Nevada. Her professional activities include membership in Phi Delta Phi, the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Clark County Bar Association, the Nevada American Inn of Court, and the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys. She is a frequent author and speaker at legal seminars educating other attorneys. Some of her seminars include: - Skip Tracing in Nevada (2005) - Insurance Coverage Trends (2006) - Collection Law from Start to Finish (2007) - Handling the Auto Injury Claim (2008) Regina has won many award and accolades for her commitment to excellence and ethics. Her most prestigious award, however, was being named an "AV Preeminent" Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell. This distinction is obtained by less than 5% of attorneys nationwide. The only way to receive an "AV Preeminent" Rating is to have a minimum of 20 other Attorneys and Judges anonymously grade your professional performance. Regina reached an overall score of 4.8 out of 5 to earn the highest rank of "AV Preeminent". In addition to her volunteer and professional commitments, Regina is a mother to three young children.
